Job Title: Government Relations Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to build and maintain healthy relationships with government agencies, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor, interpret, and communicate government policies, laws, and regulations that affect the organization’s operations and the poultry sector in general
  • Advocate for the company’s interests by engaging constructively with government officials and industry associations
  • Support the business in obtaining necessary permits, licenses, and approvals in a timely manner.
  • Represent the company at meetings, forums, and events involving government and other external stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks related to regulatory compliance and government relations.
  • Prepare reports, briefs, and position papers on regulatory developments and stakeholder engagements.
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory risks that could impact business operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Agriculture, Animal Science, Business Administration, Law, or related field
  • 5 years’ experience in similar or related roles, preferably within agribusiness, manufacturing, or livestock sectors.
  • Strong network within relevant stakeholders
  • Familiarity with poultry sector policies, standards, and regulations affecting the poultry and animal feed industry.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, networking, and interpersonal skills
  • High integrity, discretion, and ability to work independently
