Job Title: Survey Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surveying Engineer / Topographer to support a utility-scale solar PV project in Zanzibar. This is a project-based, site-focused contract role suited to someone experienced in surveying applications, GPS and Total Station use, with a background in infrastructure or energy construction projects.

You’ll be responsible for executing all survey and topographical work required for accurate site layout, setting out, and verification of civil and structural works throughout the construction lifecycle.

Requirements

Minimum Education & Certification:

• National Diploma or Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field
• Certification or training in Total Station or GPS-based survey equipment (advantageous)

Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in topographical and site-based construction surveying
• Proficient in Total Station, GPS surveying, and digital levelling tools
• Previous experience with layout and setting out for earthworks, trenching, platforms, and infrastructure
• Familiarity with as-built data collection, site control point management, and EPC project coordination

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct all surveys and topographical activities across the solar PV site
• Perform setting out of platforms, trenches, structures, and civil works
• Maintain and verify control points, site benchmarks, and elevation profiles
• Coordinate with civil and electrical teams to ensure alignment between drawings and on-site layout
• Support as-built surveys, grading checks, and daily progress tracking
• Maintain accurate survey records and field data
• Uphold safety practices and support HSE adherence during survey operations

Skills & Attributes

• Excellent technical skills in survey instruments and data accuracy
• Able to work independently and deliver under project deadlines
• Detail-oriented, methodical, and practical on active construction sites
• Fluent in English preferred; Swahili is an advantage
• Willing to be based on site for the full project duration
