Job Title: Medical Attendant

Description

• The Medical Attendant is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the hospital, assisting medical professionals and ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for patients.

Responsibilities
Patient Support & Assistance:

• Greet patients warmly and direct them to appropriate waiting areas or examination rooms.
•  Assist patients, especially those with visual impairments, elderly, or those with mobility challenges, with movement within the hospital.
• Help patients prepare for examinations (e.g., positioning, removing eyewear).
• Provide comfort and reassurance to anxious patients.
• Answer basic patient inquiries and direct more complex questions to relevant medical staff.
• Assist with patient registration and record-keeping as needed.

Clinical Environment Maintenance:

• Ensure examination rooms and waiting areas are clean, tidy, and well-stocked with necessary supplies
• Clean and sterilize ophthalmic instruments and equipment according to established protocols(under supervision of clinical staff).
• Manage and dispose of medical waste appropriately.

Assistance to Medical Professionals:

• Hand over instruments and supplies to ophthalmologists and nurses during examinations,procedures, and minor surgeries.
• Assist with patient positioning for specific ophthalmic tests
• Prepare and organize equipment for daily clinics.
• Maintain a clear and organized workspace for clinical staff.

Qualification

• Certificate/Diploma
• 2-3 experience

Required Skills and Attributes:

• Good communication, Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently, Strong attention to detail and organizational skills., Physical stamina to stand, walk, and assist patients with movement for extended periods and Understanding of basic hygiene and infection control principles.
