GENERAL RESPONSABILITIES AS DAY CARE & PRE SCHOOL ASSISTANT TEACHER:

  • The Day Care & Pre School assistant teacher role is meeting the children’s intellectual, social, physical and emotional needs during the day.
  • The Day Care & Pre School assistant teacher manages the children’s day by providing the specific pedagogical guidance.
  • The Day Care & Pre School assistant teacher is always an example for her children and her students in everything she does.
  • The Day Care & Pre School assistant teacher must be able to manage her classroom control without threatening or corporal punishment.
  • The children’s behaviour and discipline are according the African Style while using the discipline methods as learned at Ibe’s.
  • The Day Care & Pre School assistant teacher is responsible for children in the age of 1 1 /2 months till 5 years.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT & LESSON QUALITY:

  • Organise and make preparations so the daily schedule runs smoothly.
  • Be ready before parents arrive with the children so you can welcome the children.
  • Use the routine cards so the children know what to expect.
  • All children have their own chairs make sure if you receive new children you are prepared.
  • Start on time in the circle and keep a timekeeper. Circle time teaching is new for Tanzania and be aware sometime visitors come for a look.
  • Prepare your lesson plan according the topics.  Use a lot visualisation in your lessons and different teaching styles. Be aware that you are an example for the trainees.

The Day Care & Pre School Teacher and assistant teacher are the only ones who have the end responsibility for their children.

  • Be available, visibly (!), in case a child feels a need to approach an adult. The child will be taken serious, disagreements settled before they end up in a fight, and peace and good manners maintained.
  • Never leave children alone without an adult to watch them.
  • If there is any (medical, psychological, social or other) problem always seek advice from your management for support.

HYGIENE/MECICAL CARE

  • Take care of the personal hygiene of yourself as well as that of the children.
  • Make sure children remove their outdoor shoes in the classroom and during winter they wear indoor shoes from Ibe’s so they don’t get too cold.make sure they wash their hands before eating and after visiting the toilet.
  • Clean the classroom/toilets and other items which concern hygiene for the children.
  • Control if children’s toys are clean and not broken.
  • Make sure the children’s clothes are always clean and neat.
  • If parents want care giver of IBES to give medication to their children let them fill in the special form in which they give permission

SAFETY

  • As professional pedagogue and teacher you know what kind of plays are dangerous for children according their age. Don’t let them do things that will put them in danger.
  • If an accident might happen report this immediately to the manager, she will inform the parents.

TEAMWORK & MEETINGS

  • We work in a team, assisting each other in most tasks.
  • You will have team meetings every week;

To discuss the topics and subtopics for the coming weeks. Every teacher has prepared a topic according to her specialism.

  • To create new topics and subtopics.
  • To discuss performance of the field students.
  • To discuss general situations.

TAKING CARE OF MATERIALS

  • Show how to use this in a respectful way and how to store it after used.
  • When items are broken report this at your director.
  • Control the use of water. This includes making sure that the children also close the taps after use. Whenever the taps run dry, she will contact the gardener or night watchman to switch on the pump again
  • Control the use of electricity. This includes making sure the lights are switched off when not necessary.
  • Any other duties as may be given by the management!

 


Qualification

  • Diploma in education.
