Tradesperson 2: Mechanic – AngloGold Ashanti

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

• To carry out mining equipment maintenance activities including preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance.
• To support increased planned work and reduced breakdowns through effective inspections, defect reporting and contribution to maintenance planning.
• To maintain safety standards before, during and after task execution.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Perform mechanical inspections during preventive maintenance and daily routine inspections in line with work packages.
• Respond to field equipment breakdowns and complete repairs and reporting in a timely manner.
• Support improved equipment reliability by minimizing breakdowns and maximizing planned maintenance work.
• Maintain safety standards, report unsafe acts and conditions, and stop unsafe work when required.
• Work effectively under minimal supervision while demonstrating self-motivation, self-discipline and teamwork.
• Follow company values, policies, procedures, compliance requirements and maintain good housekeeping and communication across teams.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Qualification

• VETA Grade Test 1 in Motor Vehicle Mechanics or FTC in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or above.
• Valid Tanzania driving license.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience working on HME mining equipment including 6040 Excavators, CAT785C and D Trucks, CAT992 Wheel Loaders and D10T Dozers.
• Experience using CAT SIS and ET tools.

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical and auto electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Competence on RH170/6040 Excavators, CAT785C and D, and CAT992/993 Wheel Loaders.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work in a team and collaborate with cross-functional departments.
• Good communication, safety focus and housekeeping discipline.
• Awareness of cost control and compliance requirements.
