Paramedic: Health – Geita Gold Mine

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

To ensure the emergency response programme at the Gold Mine operates to a standard that supports timely response, cost effectiveness and international standards of operation.

 

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Respond to medical emergencies on and off site and provide prehospital emergency care.
  • Participate in mine rescue operations, emergency preparedness activities and evacuation drills.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and basic medical procedures, and support physicians with medical procedures, occupational health assessments, diagnostic testing and patient transfers.
  • Monitor, stabilize and escort patients during medical evacuations while ensuring continuity of care.
  • Inspect and maintain emergency equipment, first aid supplies and clinical equipment, while supporting infection prevention and medical stock control.
  • Deliver health education, patient counselling and first aid training, maintain records and reports, communicate effectively with relevant teams, and support workplace health and safety initiatives.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

 

Education & Qualification

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in paramedicine, EMS or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, ITLS, advanced airway management and defibrillator operation.
  • Registered with MCT or the TNMC and holder of a valid practicing license.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a clinical, emergency or intensive care unit setting.
  • Experience in responding to trauma, medical emergencies and mass casualty incidents.
  • Experience in ambulance operation and patient transport.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision.

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Patient assessment, emergency treatment and diagnostic capability.
  • Proficiency in triage, CPR, defibrillation, ECG interpretation, IV and IO access, airway management, haemorrhage control, and fracture and spine injury management.
  • Ability to use specialist equipment including ventilators and defibrillators.
  • Excellent communication skills and calm decision making under pressure.
  • Teamwork, collaboration, compassion, professionalism, ethical practice and confidentiality.
  • Physical fitness for emergency response duties and ability to work long shifts, including nights and adverse weather conditions.
  • Computer proficiency, compliance awareness and hazard identification capability.
