Tradesperson 1: High Voltage Electrical – Geita Gold Mine
OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To effectively manage electrical maintenance activities at underground operations including electrical reticulation, dewatering facilities, camp facilities and infrastructure, overhead power lines, power generation, medium voltage tasks, and ventilation.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Diagnose electrical faults and attend breakdowns on underground equipment and machines, replacing damaged or faulty parts as required.
- Perform checks and tests to verify repair success and safely return equipment to service.
- Execute routine and planned maintenance in line with schedules and contribute to developing and maintaining maintenance schedules.
- Assemble and install electrical and electronic systems; carry out high voltage tasks based on project works.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to optimize equipment performance and maintain tools and machines in good working order.
- Comply with company and legislative safety requirements and complete required documentation accurately and on time.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Qualification
- Form IV Certificate.
- High voltage training certificate.
- VETA Trade Test Grade One in Electrical or Level Three Industrial Electricity certificate.
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage.
- Must have a valid Tanzania driving license and driving competency.
Experience
- Three years and above working experience on underground equipment.
- High voltage switching.
- Previous experience in a similar role or time spent working on high voltage electrical equipment installed underground.
Knowledge & Skills
- High voltage electrical knowledge.
- Knowledge of diagnostics tools for electrical fault finding.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.
- Ability to carry out and repair electrical wiring and installation.
- Strong manual skills and precision when carrying out repair and testing.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical PLC systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Organizational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to act as a supervisor when assigned.
