Accountant – Sandvik Mining
Purpose of the role:
The role is responsible for providing financial and operational support to the Service business by monitoring work-in-progress (WIP), analyzing profitability, preparing management reports, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. Key responsibilities include tracking and ensuring timely closure of service jobs, conducting cost and variance analyses, preparing workshop and field service performance reports, and managing monthly sales and financial reporting.
The position supports customer invoicing and quotation processes, performs balance sheet reconciliations, and assists with CAPEX tracking and investment management.
The job responsibilities:
- Prepare various reports explaining the performance of the Workshop and Field Service departments, including quarterly WIP counts.
- Follow up on and monitor the closure of all open jobs under Work in Progress (WIP) on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Prepare profitability analyses for service contracts, workshop operations, and field services.
- Preparation of forecasts and budgets on a quarterly and Annual basis.
- Prepare invoices and quotations for customers related to service contracts and equipment.
- Prepare monthly sales reports in OneStream and other financial reports.
- Prepare cost and variance analyses against forecasts on a monthly basis.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for accounts related to assigned responsibilities.
- Capex Monitoring
- Internal control testing and ensure that all controls within the assigned scope are operating effectively.
- Assist the Business Controller with pricing reviews and reconciliation reports.
- Assist the Business Controller in preparing various monthly reports, including equipment reports, GIT, AR, and others.
- Assist the Business Controller in preparing monthly commentary (Flash and Actuals) and perform any other duties assigned in relation to the profession.
- Ensure compliance with all company procedures, policies, and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related qualifications from recognized institution.
- 5 Years’ experience in Finance or Accounting practices.
- Previous experience and exposure in mining industry and related industries in a Finance & Accounting role (added advantage).
- Must be CPA holder
