Almost 90% of Tanzania’s coastal communities depend on fish and other marine resources to survive. It puts money in peoples’ pockets and healthy food on their tables. But today, these resources are becoming increasingly scarce due to increased pressures from improved fishing gears and vessels, growing human populations, damaging infrastructure developments, inadequate legislation, and climate change. Increasingly large-scale and more technologically advanced fishing operations will impact Tanzanian fisheries.
