Auto Electrician – Barrick Mining
Responsibilities:
- Report defects and equipment breakdowns to the Supervisor on a shift basis and provide the best maintenance solutions.
- Ensure that equipment is suitable for use in the underground mine.
- Coordinate various engineering functions and operations, including mobile fleet management, maintenance, and skills transfer.
- Provide relevant feedback to the Supervisor and co-workers on equipment performance, conditions, and carry out scheduled and non-scheduled repairs as required.
- Ensure that the maintenance and overhaul of machinery, auto-electrical equipment installed and/or operated, is in accordance with relevant standards.
- Investigate, diagnose, and perform trade-related maintenance and repair of equipment according to the required standard.
- Plan future work requirements with the supervisor and plan corrective measures to rectify.
- Identify critical spares requirements and place orders according to procedure.
- Adhere to policies and safety procedures.
- Performing statutory testing and inspections on all electrical distribution systems.
- Provide relevant Skills to the national team
Qualification Requirements:
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Auto Electrician / Automotive
- Experience needed on all mobile equipment for maintenance purposes.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of the team.
- Experience in equipment air conditioning systems
- Knowledge and application of safe and reliable mechanical maintenance practices to maximize equipment availability and productivity.
- Knowledge on Sandvik U/G Development/Production Drills (DD321, DD421, DD422i & DL210, DL321 and DL331), Loaders (LH307, LH410, LH514 and LH621i) and Trucks (TH545i and TH663i)
- Exposure to industry’s best preventative maintenance regimes is imperative to ensure machinery and equipment, and other assets, are maintained to a high level of availability, and in accordance with company policies at all times. The ability to prioritize repairs and take instructions in order to reduce downtime and delays is foremost in maximizing machine availability and operator utilization.
- Ability to comprehend OEM manuals, diagrams, and drawings is essential in the performance of this role.
