Job Description

To support the logistics function by coordinating local transport, customs clearance follow-ups, and shipment tracking. The Logistics Assistant will work closely with the Senior Procurement & Logistics Officer to ensure goods and equipment are delivered efficiently and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating inbound and outbound shipments by air, sea, or land.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and couriers (FedEx, DHL, UPS) for timely delivery.
  • Prepare and follow up customs and shipping documentation.
  • Track consignments from HQ and provide status updates.
  • Support with packing, unpacking, and cross-checking goods during dispatch and receipt.
  • Arrange local transportation and delivery of goods to project sites.
  • Maintain records of shipments, delivery schedules, and clearance documents.
  • Support procurement and logistics reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Procurement & Logistics Officer.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in logistics, shipping, or transport coordination.
  • Knowledge of customs clearance processes in Tanzania is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
