Job Summary:
Our client, a premier safari company in Tanzania, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join their Finance team. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the accuracy of financial data entry, support project monitoring, and collaborate with the finance team to maintain the integrity of financial records and budgets. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in financial tracking, reporting, and budgeting, requiring strong accounting principles and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee data entry related to account codes, department allocations, and location assignments in financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Conduct audits to identify discrepancies and implement best practices for ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor the financial performance of ongoing projects, ensuring expenditures are within budget and properly allocated. Assist project managers in reviewing financial data, forecasts, and budgets.
- Support the Head of Finance in maintaining accurate financial records and provide guidance to junior accounting staff on proper data entry procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, ensuring correct allocation of transactions, and reconcile discrepancies in account coding, allocations, and project costs.
- Recommend opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve data accuracy and efficiency within the finance team.
- Prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and collaborate with auditors to resolve any issues
- Provide support for other accounting functions, including month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on data accuracy, coding, reconciliations, and project monitoring.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Experience with project-based financial tracking, budgeting, and reporting is highly preferred.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry.
- Strong project management and financial tracking skills.
