On behalf of our Tanzania based client, we are looking for a competent and experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

Location: Kagerankanda / Kasulu, Kigoma district

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Kasulu, Tanzania. Heavy Vehicle Mechanic is a skilled professional responsible for the maintenance and repair of large vehicles and machinery, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.

Work Environment

• Job Location: Typically works in garages or outdoor environments on job sites at Kagerankanda /Kasulu, Kigoma district.
• Physical Demands: The role may involve work in physically demanding conditions, requiring lifting, bending, and the use of tools in tight spaces.
• Hours: Full-time positions may require evenings, weekends, and overtime, depending on operational needs.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, Diagnose, and Repair: Conduct thorough inspections of heavy vehicles and machinery, diagnose faults using diagnostic tools, and perform necessary repairs to mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Routine Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, and checking of fluids and filters to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
• Parts Replacement: Repair or replace defective parts and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems, using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, parts used, and maintenance schedules. Prepare reports for management regarding vehicle status and operational safety.
• Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with vehicle operators, drivers and team members to understand issues and provide recommendations for vehicle care and maintenance.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure all repairs comply with industry standards and regulations.
• Spare parts: Ensuring the availability of spare parts and consumables such as filters, engine oil, brake oil…etc. for the total fleet.
• Perform all other duties as and when assigned by the management.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications / Experience:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of vocational training in heavy vehicle mechanics or related fields is preferred.
• Experience: Proven experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic or in a related role at least 5 years. Additional experience with specific machinery brands or technologies is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems used in heavy vehicles. Proficiency in using diagnostic software and tools for troubleshooting.
• Physical Abilities: Good physical stamina and strength for handling heavy parts and working in various environments. Ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
• Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to accurately diagnose and repair vehicle issues.

ADDED ADVANTAGE

• Communication: Strong communication skills in English and Swahili is preferred to effectively explain technical information to non-technical personnel.
