Simba Sports Club is a football team based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in the neighborhood of Kariakoo.

The club was named Queens after Her Majesty, the Queen of England. It was started in 1936 when Dar Young Africans broke away from another team called Tanzania Giants. From Queens to Eagles to Sunderland, the club has had many names. They changed their name to Simba in 1971. (Swahili for “Lion”).

Simba SC has won 21 league titles, five national cups, and has been in the CAF Champions League more than once. They are also one of the biggest clubs in East Africa. They have won the CECAFA Club Championship six times.

The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium is where Simba play their home games. Simba had 1.9 million followers on Instagram in 2022, which was an increase of 89% from the year before. This made them the football club with the fastest-growing Instagram account.

The club is one of the wealthiest in East Africa. For the 2019/2020 season, they have a budget of Sh 6.1 Billion, which is about $5.3 million.

Nyasa Big Bullets is a Malawian football (soccer) team based in Blantyre that presently competes in the TNM Super League, Malawi’s highest tier. Previously, the club was known as Bata Bullets, Total Big Bullets, and Bakili Bullets. In terms of followers, league title wins, and financial backing, Bullets are recognized as Malawi’s top football team.

Nyasa Big Bullets History
A group of players who had separated from Mighty Wanderers created the club in 1967. The club’s initial name was Nyasaland Bullets, but after obtaining excellent sponsorship from Bata Shoe Company, it was renamed Bata Bullets.

The Bullets won the Blantyre and Districts Football League (BDFL), the Chibuku Cup, and the Castle Cup during the 1970 season.

Bakili Bullets was nicknamed by then-Malawi President Bakili Muluzi in 2003. During this time, the squad had one of its most spectacular moments, reaching the lucrative group stages of the CAF Champions League in 2004.

During the same time period, the club held a training camp in the United Kingdom in preparation for the CAF Champions League. Nyasa Manufacturing Company is currently sponsoring the squad (NMC). Maulle has been its moniker since then (native language for bullets).

Rodgers Yasin and assistant Elijah Kananji were fired as Nyasa Big Bullets head coaches on October 8, 2018.

Former Zimbabwe national team manager Callisto Pasuwa presently coaches the Bullets, with former captain and Malawi national team defender Peter Mponda as his assistant.
