Vipers SC is a Ugandan football team based in Kampala. They are known as the Venoms or Nyokas (Snakes in Kiswahili).

History
Bunamwaya FC was established in 1969.

After winning the Wakiso District and Super Mini League promotion league in 2005, Vipers SC has competed in the Uganda Premier League since 2006. Since the 2006-07 season, they have finished in the top half of the table every year.

The club signed numerous key players for the 2010 season, including seven members of the Ugandan National Team at the time, with the support of president Lawrence Mulindwa. Bunamwaya won the Uganda Premier League for the first time with two rounds to spare. They did not compete in the 2011 CAF Champions League due to budgetary constraints.

Bunamwaya were unable to reproduce their success, finishing third in 2011 and runners-up in both the cup and the league the following year.

Bunamwaya was renamed Vipers SC on August 21, 2012, in order to “elevate the prestige of the club” and make them more nationally prominent.

Vipers were heartbroken to lose the 2013 Uganda Cup final. After taking the lead in the 78th minute on a penalty by Joseph Mprade, Victoria University scored in the last seconds of the game to win the penalty kick shootout 5-3.

After a league campaign in which the Vipers lost only once, league success returned in the 2014-15 season. Edward Golola was their leader. The club has tight relations with St. Mary’s School in Kitende, with 17 players from that school on the 2015 championship-winning squad. [10]

Vipers competed in continental competition for the first time in the championship. In the preliminary round of the 2016 CAF Champions League, they were defeated 2-1 on aggregate by Enyimba FC of Nigeria.

Vipers finished second in the 2015-16 season but won the Uganda Cup for the first time, defeating Onduparaka FC 3-1.

The victory qualified them for the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup, where they defeated Volcan Club of Comoros 1-1 on away goals in the preliminary round before losing 3-2 on aggregate to South African Platinum Stars in the first round after conceding a 90th-minute penalty.

The Vipers competed in the 2018-19 CAF Champions League, where they were defeated 3-0 on aggregate by CS Constantine of Algeria, one round shy of the group stage.

After the league was canceled by FUFA owing to the outbreak of COVID19 disease, Vipers sc was crowned winners of the Uganda Premier League 2019/2020 in May 2020, leading with 54 points from 25 matches for the fourth time in their history.

Vipers defeated KCCA FC 2-1 at Lugogo stadium in April 2022, coming from behind through captain Halid Lwaliwa and Milton Marisa. Vipers SC won the trophy after defeating Express FC 3-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium with four games left in the 2021-2022 season.
