HESLB LAUNCHES DIGITAL CREDIT RETURN SYSTEM

The Higher Education Student Loan Board (HESLB) has officially launched a digital system that enables employers to submit deductions and lists of their beneficiaries-employees online from wherever they are.

Launching the system in Dodoma (Friday, June 10, 2022), HESLB CEO Abdul-Razaq Badru said the system started pilot in 2019/2020 and has now been completed thus enabling employers and beneficiaries to repay the loan easily.

“In the past the employer had to leave his office to come to HESLB to make payments but now he can submit a list of beneficiaries – his employees and deductions from wherever he is using our system which he joins through our website (www.heslb.go.tz),” he said. CEO Abdul-Razaq Badru.

According to Badru, who officially launched the system (Friday, June 10, 2022) in Dodoma, the system also enables individual beneficiaries to access credit information and repayment procedures through the HESLB website.

“Since last year, it has been very easy, you log on to our website, click on ‘repay loan’ or ‘repay loan’ and follow the registration instructions and you will continue to receive your debt statement on the spot or even claim refunds,” said Badru. .

Commenting on her experience in using the system, a representative of Young Jai Primary School in Dodoma, Ms. Young Mi Cha has advised HESLB to improve the system to enable employers to identify new employees if they have benefited from higher education loans.

“There are times when new employees cheat, so despite the advantages of this system, I suggest it be improved so that the employer can identify the new employee as a HESLB beneficiary or not without asking or bringing your name to you for review first,” said Ms Young.

HESLB was established in 2005 with two main roles, providing loans to needy students enrolled in educational institutions to collect mature loans from higher education loan beneficiaries from 1994/1995.
