Created in 1992 in Brussels, Avocats Sans Frontières (ASF) is an international NGO specializing in access to justice and the defense of human rights.
From Kinshasa to Tunis, from Bangui to Kampala, our teams inform people about their rights, strengthen civil society and lawyers to better support litigants, and encourage legislative reforms for better respect for human rights.
All our activities are carried out in partnership with local actors: civil society NGOs, lawyers, bar associations, local institutions and authorities, paralegals, community leaders, social workers, other international institutions… They are divided into 3 axes:
Provision of legal aid services : organization of legal consultation centres, implementation of legal aid programs, awareness and education in population law, training of relay persons in local communities, etc.
Capacity building : professional training of lawyers; sensitization and information of justice actors, institutional support to Bars for the development of the profession and the establishment of legal aid, training of local organizations in law and procedures, observation of trials, constitution files or even working with victims, networking activities for the creation of local synergies, etc.
Advocacy : meetings with local or international institutions and authorities, submission of notes and opinions, publications, organization of round tables, etc.
