Cook – Embassy of Belgium
To support the general management of the Residence of the Ambassador in Dar es Salaam, the Embassy is looking for a full-time cook, expected to start in October 2026.
Job description:
Tasks and responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Ambassador, the cook will be expected to:
- Plan, prepare and cook for all meals as per the Ambassador’s guidelines;
- Be able to cook at high levels of standards;
- Respect all rules of hygiene;
- Ensure the cleanliness and order of the kitchen;
- Take into account all comments and guidelines for the good management of events;
- Identify and report any issues to the Ambassador, and suggest solutions;
- Supervise external service providers during representative activities;
- Be able to suggest an appropriate menu for the guests and hosts.
Required skills:
- Ability to work in team;
- Service oriented;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Reliable, trustworthy and loyal;
- Able to adapt and show flexibility.
Education / Experience:
- Cookery school or equivalent an asset;
- Strong references a plus;
- Good knowledge of English. French and/or Dutch an asset.
Location
- The function is based in Dar es Salaam.
