Area Trade Developers – Sun King

The Area Trade Developers (ATDs), reporting to the PayGo Sales Manager, will be accountable for driving phone sales through the Retailers (ATD Agents) channel, working on collections and entire channel operations in their designated area. This is done through building an extensive network of retailers called “ATD Agents” who sell to customers walking, utilising the EasyBuy technology.

What you will be expected to do

1. ATD Agents Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new phone-selling ATD Agents (Retailers) within assigned territory.
  • Conduct field-based training on product knowledge, pricing, QOS Commission plan, and sales processes.
  • Supply and manage stock to ATD Agents in coordination with the Sun King shop

2. Agent Productivity & Sales Targets

  • Drive daily, weekly, and monthly phone sales (units & revenue) per ATD agent.
  • Work with ATD agents to increase sales volume for each phone model
  • Coach and work with low-performing agents with tailored action plans to be able to sell.

3. Portfolio Quality & Repayment Support

  • Ensure agents follow the correct customer registration and PayGo activation steps.
  • Monitor early repayment trends; intervene with agents showing high default risk.
  • Manage phone replacement/warranty logistics at the ATD agent level to reduce customer complaints and improve collections.

4. Agent Engagement & Branding

  • Distribute and maintain branding materials (posters, umbrellas, signage, uniforms, etc.) at every agent point.
  • Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with agents to review performance, resolve issues, and provide updates to the team.
  • Ensure agents maintain minimum stock levels per product and follow inventory reconciliation processes.

5. Local Trade Activations

  • Plan and execute daily localised activities (roadshows, market demos, door-to-door)in coordination with the marketing team.
  • Identify high-footfall locations for temporary activation in peri-urban/rural areas.
  • Recommend agents for rewards/campaigns based on sales and repayment performance.

6. Reporting & Administration

  • Update trackers and tickets daily with agent visit logs, sales, and stock replenishment.
  • Prepare a weekly territory performance report (sales by model, active agents, and onboarding).
  • Flag stock shortages, fraud risks, or operational blockers to PayGo Sales Manager.

You might be a strong candidate if you

  • Education/Experience: Diploma or degree in a business-related field, or 3+ years’ experience in field sales (FMCG, microfinance, mobile money, or telecom).
  • Agent Management: Proven experience recruiting and managing independent agents or micro-distributors.
  • Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of local markets (urban, peri-urban, and rural) and ability to navigate community dynamics.
  • Digital & Reporting Skills: Proficiency in using smartphones (Android), CRM tools, MS Excel, and basic PowerPoint for reporting.
  • Field Execution: Willingness to work in the field 5–6 days a week with strong problem-solving skills on operational issues.
