Logistic vacancy-Road Transport Manager


Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Road Transport Manager to oversee and manage our fuel transport operations within Tanzania and across neighboring borders. The successful candidate will ensure safe, compliant, cost-effective, and efficient transportation of petroleum products while maintaining high service delivery standards and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Manages daily operations of a fuel transport fleet, ensuring trucks, trailers, and tankers are fully utilized and efficient.
  • Oversees compliance with all regulatory bodies such as EWURA, TBS, TRA, and ensures adherence to petroleum transport safety standards.
  • Plans and optimizes fuel delivery routes across Tanzania and neighboring countries to maximize efficiency.
  • Handles all cross-border logistics, including customs clearance and proper transport documentation.
  • Supervises and trains drivers while monitoring behavior, fuel usage, and route compliance via GPS and telematics.
  • Coordinates loading and deliveries with terminals and clients to ensure timely and safe fuel transportation.
  • Responds swiftly to emergencies, breakdowns, and unexpected route changes to maintain delivery schedules.
  • Maintains updated licenses, permits, insurance, and compliance records for all transport operations.
  • Tracks and manages operational costs including fuel consumption, tolls, and taxes across borders.
  • Generates performance reports and manages the transport budget to improve overall efficiency and cost control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in fuel transport/logistics, preferably in East/Southern
  • Africa.
  • In-depth knowledge of cross-border transport procedures and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and transport software.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of HSE standards related to hazardous materials transport.
