The Zambia Super League is the highest level of competition offered by the Football Association of Zambia. It is also known as the MTN/FAZ Super Division owing to sponsorship considerations. It was established in the year 1962.
The most recent season of the Zambian Super League was the 2020–21 campaign. The top four teams in the league will qualify for the next level of competition, with the top two teams moving on to compete in the qualifications for the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
The clubs who finished third and fourth in the CAF Confederation Cup standings will advance to the group stage qualifiers of the competition. Originally, the League was going to run from March through December, but a transition season had to be played so that the schedule could be aligned with that of CAF Tournaments.
According to the CAF’s five-year rating, the league is rated seventh among all of the countries in Africa. The Football Association of Zambia owns the league, and Supersport has the rights to broadcast all 126 of the season’s matches. The champions of the league will be awarded a trophy made of copper with their names inscribed on it.
